Welcome to Schema & CBT Psychology
We are a group of senior Clinical Psychologists with a wealth of experience across the NHS, charity, and private sectors, dedicated to providing effective therapy that enables clients to create meaningful, long-lasting change in their lives.
Schema and CBT Psychology was established to offer clients high-quality, evidence-based therapy delivered by qualified psychologists who combine professional expertise with genuine warmth, compassion, and human understanding.
What services do we offer?
We specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), CBT-informed Schema Therapy, and Schema Therapy, and have training across a range of other evidence-based therapies, including Compassion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and DBT.
Schema Therapy is a structured therapy which uses cognitive, emotional, and relational interventions to enable people to make changes to unhealthy patterns of coping or interpersonal difficulties. It is suitable for those with long-term, chronic difficulties or multiple issues.
Our clinicians treat all levels of severity, providing carefully tailored, evidence-based interventions designed to address and meet the unique needs of each client. We are able to offer shorter-term therapy focusing on coping strategies to manage symptoms, as well as longer-term treatment to overcome more established challenges.
You can be reassured that your treatment will be professionally and thoughtfully tailored to your individual needs and therapeutic goals.

questions?
-
The duration of therapy varies on a case-by-case basis and is guided by your individual goals and needs. Typically, CBT involves 10–25 weekly sessions, while schema-informed therapy lasts longer, usually between 9–24 months. Towards the end of therapy, sessions are often spaced out to support the maintenance of your progress. Your psychologist will work with you to develop a plan that best meets your needs.
-
Your psychologist will support you in the process of deciding which therapeutic approach will be most suitable to meet your particular goals and requirements.
If you are experiencing multiple long-standing difficulties, we may recommend schema-informed CBT or Schema Therapy, as these approaches take a broad, ‘whole-person’ perspective.

Please contact us by email or text with a brief outline of your difficulties and your contact details. We can then arrange a free 10–15 minute telephone call to discuss your requirements and allocate a suitable therapist.

If you are someone with long-term, chronic, or multiple difficulties, we may recommend Schema Therapy or schema-informed CBT. These approaches have the advantage of being whole-person models rather than disorder-specific. By formulating and treating clients in this way, we are able to make sense of different ‘parts’ of the self that have developed over time. These parts may include coping strategies such as overworking, acting the clown, avoiding people or situations, avoiding emotions, or prioritising others. These strategies may function to protect a more vulnerable part of the self that may feel scared, alone, or not good enough.
Schema Therapy recognises the importance of core needs in childhood, and how unmet needs can lead to the development of these patterns. Therapy involves developing a shared formulation to help clients make sense of their experiences.
Schema Therapy is a structured approach that uses cognitive, emotional, and relational interventions to help heal unmet needs, strengthen a healthy sense of self, reduce unhelpful coping patterns, and quieten self-criticism.
